Persepolis v Sepahan

TEHRANTIMES - Persepolis was held to a 2-2 draw against Sepahan in the 18th week of Iran Professional League in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium on Tuesday.


Sepahan Uzbek midfielder Fozil Musaev gave visitors the lead in the 10th minute but Persepolis striker Ali Alipour equalized the match five minutes into the second half.

Five minutes after the hour mark, Brazilian striker Luciano Pereira put Sepahan in front once again but this time their lead last for nine minutes when Kamal Kamyabinia smashed the ball to the back of the net to make it 2-2.

Two minutes later Sepahan defender Leandro Padovani was sent off with a straight red after a harsh tackle on Mehdi Taremi who was going to a one on one situation with the keeper.

Persepolis climbed to fourth place with this draw while Sepahan is currently in 10th with 25 points.

Elsewhere in Isfahan, Zob Ahan and Esteghlal played out a goalless draw. Esteghlal and Zob Ahan remained in first and third place respectively after this draw.

In Mashhad, Padideh edged past Saipa thanks to Mehdi Kheiri’s goal in the 27th minute.
