Alireza Jahanbakhsh

Tasnim - AZ Alkmaar winger Alireza Jahanbakhsh said that he is in his best form since he joined the team.

The Iranian international player joined AZ Alkmaar in August 2015 but was ruled out for several weeks with injury.

“I am fully fit at the moment. In the first of the season, thing went against us. Alkmaar held a training camp in Spain and it has helped us in the second half of the season. We have won four out of four matches,” Jahanbakhsh told the Tasnim news agency.

“We could book a place in the KNVB after beating HHC 1-0. Hopefully we can continue our winning way. I am very satisfied with my performance at the moment. We have to continue the way to reach our goal at the end of the season,” he added.

Jahanbakhsh was one of Iran U-23 key players who missed the tournament after his club didn’t allow him to join Mohammad Khakpour’s team.
Iran was knocked out of the competition after being defeated by Japan in the quarter-final.

“I believe that the Iranian players and staff did their best. In my opinion, we should not put them under pressure since it is not helpful for our football. We have to find the best way to resolve the problem,” he said.

“Iran has so many talented players and we must maintain focus on long-term goal to achieve much bigger things than a country like Japan,” Jahanbakhsh concluded.
