 MNA - The sole goal of Maziar Zare gave Persepolis football team a valuable victory over Foolad of Khuzestan here at the Azadi Stadium on Friday. In front of about 30,000 spectators, Persepolis defeated Foolad in the 22nd week of the Iran Professional League (IPL). Persepolis’ Ali Karimi was brought down in the Foolad penalty box by former Iran international defender Ali Badavi and Maziar Zare put the hosts in the lead in the 28th minute from the penalty spot. Persepolis’ Ebrahim Tore was sent off by referee Mahmoud Rafiei in the 43rd minute after receiving his second yellow card. Foolad put Persepolis under pressure in the second half but they failed to take advantage of their opportunities. Persepolis is the forth in the IPL table behind Zob Ahan, Esteghlal and Sepahan.
