AFC - Iran star Farhad Majidi scored both goals as Al Gharafa came from a goal down to defeat Al Wakrah 2-1 in their Qatar Stars League Round 17 fixture on Saturday.

Former Al Gharafa star Younis Mahmoud, scorer of Iraq's winning goal in the final of the 2007 AFC Asian Cup, broke the deadlock just six minutes into the clash at the Thani bin Jassim Stadium but Al Wakrah's lead lasted just three minutes thanks to Majidi's first for the club he joined on loan from Esteghlal at the end of December.

Majidi, who scored five times in six matches for Esteghlal in the 2011 ACL and was part of the Al Ain squad that won the inaugural edition of Asia's premier club competition in 2003 while on loan at the UAE side, netted what transpired to be the winning goal in the 25th minute as Al Gharafa moved up to sixth in the current QSL standings.

Al Gharafa open their seventh ACL campaign on March 7 against Al Shabab Al Arabi, after the UAE side defeated Uzbekistan's Neftchi in 2012 AFC Champions League playoffs on Saturday.
