TEHRANTIMES - Manuel Jose de Jesus Silva, known simply as Manuel Jose, reached an agreement to join Persepolis football team, according to a source close to the team.
Gabriel Calderon, Bruno Metsu and Manuel Jose were the three candidates in the mix for the top job at the Tehran giant, which suffered a dismal 2011-12 season.
Mustafa Denizli announced his resignation from the Persepolis job last week.
The 62-year-old Turk, who has been residing in Turkey for the last month, telephoned Persepolis general manager Mohammad Ruyanian and said he could not continue with Persepolis due to personal problems.
According to a source close to the club, Manuel Jose and Persepolis have reached a final agreement and the Portuguese coach will be introduced to the team on Monday.
Manuel Jose has been without a team since he quit Egyptian giant Al-Ahly in May.
Nine-time Iranian champions Persepolis finished the 2011-12 Iranian Pro League season in 12th place and bowed out of the 2012 AFC Champions League in the Round of 16.
