Nelo Vingada

Tasnim - Nelo Vingada was appointed as the new head coach of the Iran's U-23 football team on Monday.


The 61-year-old Portuguese has penned a one-year contract with the Iranian Football Federation worth $360,000.

“I am happy to finalize my contract with Iran’s Football Federation. Our first objective is the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea. We have to concentrate on the competitions. Iran has not won the Asian Games since 2002,” Vingada said in the news conference.

“I hope that Iran can qualify for the 2016 Olympic Games," he stated.

"Personally"  former Persepolis coach said "I am optimistic about booking a place in the prestigious event."
