TEHRANTIMES - After a heavy defeat against Vietnam and a draw against Kyrgyzstan, Iran Olympic football team is on the verge of elimination from the 2014 Asian Games in South Korea.


Sepahan new coach Hossein Faraki who led Foolad to IPL title last season believes Iran Football Federation should pay more attention to the youth ranks.

“The Federation does not pay attention to youth teams and that’s why we got poor results in Asian Games. We’ve got a good Olympic team but it is ridiculously when you use players that cannot play in 2016 Olympics because of their age ” Faraki said.

“If we had used younger players for the Asian Games the result would not be important because we could work hard to improve them for 2016 Olympics in Rio. Now we’ve lost both present and future,” Sepahan coach added.

Faraki believes Vingada is a good coach but it is better to use Iranian managers in youth ranks.

“Vingada is a world class coach; it is not all his faults. I believe we should use an Iranian coach for youth teams because Iranian coach knows Iranian football much better. I think it’s better to hire an Iranian coach to prepare Olympic team for 2016 Olympics.
