Eamon Zayed

Globe trotter Eamon Zayed is Malaysia-bound with a view to signing for the Sabah Rhinos.

Libyan international Zayed, 31, is set to work with former Cork City star George O’Callaghan, who was recently appointed as the club’s manager and technical director ahead of the new M-League season.

The Dubliner is poised to join El Hadji Diouf in signing for O’Callaghan, who was instrumental in Joe Gamble’s move to DPMM – the Brunei club that plays in Singapore’s ‘S League’, for last season.

Zayed spent part of last term on loan with Sligo Rovers from Shamrock Rovers, joining up with the Bit O’Red at the end of July until the end of the campaign.

Previously he played for a string of league clubs but also enjoyed success in Iran with FC Persepolis, and later played for Aluminium Hormozogan in Iran Pro League before returning to the Hoops.

Striker Roy O’Donovan is also likely to join up with his former Cork colleague O’Callaghan, having also most recently played for DPMM, while City winger Liam Kearney is currently with the Malaysian club as a ‘temporary fitness trainer’.
