TEHRANTIMES - Former Persepolis striker said that Iran’s Esteghlal has made a big mistake appointing Parviz Mazloumi as its new head coach.

Zayed made hat trick against Esteghlal in Tehran derby in February 2012 helping Persepolis to come back from two-goal deficit to beat its arch-rival.

Esteghlal was coaching by Parviz Mazloumi at that time.

“Esteghlal made mistake to appoint Mazloumi as new head coach. To be honest, I do not like him. He is a very arrogant and he thinks he is better than everyone. I worked with him at Aluminum Hormozgan and he was very disrespectful towards me,” Zayed told in an exclusive interview with Tehran Times.

“Mazloumi still has a big problem that I scored a hat trick in the derby against him that probably got him fired in 2012. Anyway, I don't want to talk about this man any more because words are cheap, actions mean everything,” the 31-year-old striker added.

“My message to the Persepolis fans: I miss you, and Inshallah, I can have the honor of playing for you again,” Malaysia’s Sabah striker added.

“Persepolis needs a striker who can score more than 15 goals during a season. They badly need a goalscorer!

“They have signed many strikers since I left but not one of them could score more than 10 goals in one season. This is a big problem! If Persepolis wants to challenge for the championship they need a goalscorer who can score more than 15 goals in the league in one season,” Zayed added.

“I am not the best player but I know how to score goals. Anyway, I will still always support Persepolis because they are now forever in my heart,” he stated.
