IRNA - Anzali is not a safe haven for the top teams any more as the relegation-threatened Malavan has recently turned to a giantkiller.
The bottom-placed Malavan stunned Iran Pro League (IPL) leader Sepahan on Monday, winning the IPL derby 2-1 before the home fans in Takhti Stadium.
Seyed Ali Mir-Toroqi put Malavan ahead in the fifth minute. Top goalscorer of the league, Edmond Bezik, leveled the match 12 minutes later when he scored the equalizer.
The northern side retook the lead in the 38th minute as Reza Safarkhah grabbed the winner.
Farajollah Yasrebi refereed the match that was played in a rainy day and on a muddy pitch. Hatam Bakpour and Mohammad Najafi were the linesmen.
Sepahan of Isfahan tops the IPL table with 35 points out of 16 matches and Malavan is at the 13th place, winning 15 points out of 17 matches.
Fourteen teams are competing in the league.

Shirdel helps Paykan past Fajr; SAIPA, Esteqlal tie

Paykan beat Fajr-e Sepassi and SAIPA fought to a nil-nil draw against Esteqlal of Ahvaz in the 17th week of Iran Pro League on Monday.
On the pitch of Iran Khodro Stadium, western Tehran, Paykan managed to defeat visitor Shirazi side, Fajr, 1-0.
Nasser Shirdel scored the sole goal of the match in the 7th minute.
Assisted by his two linesmen Rassoul Foroughi and Rajab Akhlaqi, referee Mahmoud Rafiei judged the match.
In Karaj Shariati Stadium, SAIPA and Ahvaz-based Esteqlal shared the points as they tied 0-0 in the normal time.

Foulad hands Naft 3-1 defeat

Foulad of Khuzestan saw off Abadan's San'at Naft 3-1 here on Monday.
Playing a 17th week match of Iran Pro League (IPL) in Takhti Stadium of Ahvaz, Foulad hit three in the 33rd, 60th, and 80th minutes.
Hossein Ka'bi, Khuzestan Player of the Year, scored the opener and the second from the penalty spot and his teammate Ali Badavi grabbed the third.
Alireza Daghagheleh scored Naft consolation goal in the 86th minute as he converted a penalty.
Referee Fereydoun Esfahanian and the two linesmen Heidar Shakour and Gholamreza Soleimani judged the match.

Visitor Pas crushes Barq

Visitor Pas thrashed Barq on Monday as the Tehrani side handed the host a 3-0 drubbing in the 17th week of Iran Pro League.
Bayatinia netted the first in the 14th minute and national midfielder Javad Nekounam added two more in the 50th and 90th minutes to complete Barq rout.
Mohammad Aqa-Mohammadi of Barq missed a penalty in the 29th minutes.
Referee Khodadad Afsharian and linesmen Reza Sokhandan and Hassan Karbas-Foroush judged the match watched by over two thousand spectators.
Pas is at the fifth place of the league table with 25 points and Barq has 16 points, standing 10th.
