IRNA - English football
clubs are reportedly interested in signing Hamburg's Iranian international
forward Mehdi
Mahdavikia, the bi-weekly kicker sports magazine cited Mahdavikia's
personal manager as saying on Thursday.
"Mehdi's playing style is of course interesting to English clubs," said
Reza Fazeli.
"We are keeping our ears open," he added. Considering Mahdavikia as the
best right winger in the German
pro-football league, Hamburg's coach, Kurt Jara, has repeatedly voiced his
concern that the former Pirouzi player could be signed up by other top
European teams after the expiration of his contract in the summer of 2004.
The soft-spoken 25-year-old striker is currently leading the Bundesliga
assist list and has played a decisive role in his team's recent string of
victories.
Hamburger SV is currently ranked fifth in the German Bundesliga with 40
points out of 26 games.
