Iran won its first match of the four-sided LG cup held at Casablanca, Morocco, and is guaranteed to get at least 24 million tomans as a second place team.

Iran started well with great ball control and position, and scored with only 12 minutes into the game. Mojahed Khaziravi made the most of his ONE-on-ONE with the Venezuelian goalie and placed a perfect ball on the left hand corner of the net.

Although showing weakness on the left side on defense Iran had a greater time of possession, and played a well balanced game in the first half. Goalkeeper EBRAHIM MIRZAPOUR had almost no shots taken against him in the first 45 minutes of the game. Venezuela eventually got more possession but only after Iran was forced to play with only 10 players after Ali Daei got ejected for punching his opponent in the chest, but the South-Americans were un-successful in offence.

In the second half ALI KARIMI was all alone at the top, but managed to get two great scoring chances but failed on both. Once again he showed what a great player he is, but still has trouble finishing. YUNES BAHONAR, while playing his first game for the national team, had a successful evening until the 75th minute when he was injured and taken out of the game.

With this win Iran will meet the Algerian side in the finals of the LG tournament on Sunday, and has a shot of wining $50,000 as the grand prize of the tournament.
