- Talebi said: "Koch's departure from Iran, is an unfortunate set
back for Iranian football." Esteghlal's former coach told reporters:
"It does not personally matter to me that he left, but the point is
that his departure from Iran will take us a steps back in Football.
Koch wanted to take Iran's football towards becoming world class, but
unfortunately just like many other foreign coaches in Iran in the past few
years, his goal was defeated by the traditional and incorrect Iranians
thinking about football."
He continued, I suggest that IFF to start negotiating with foreign coaches
like Koch and take advantage of their knowledge." In regards to lack
of success of Koch in Esteghlal, he said: "When Koch took over, all
the players were already chosen, and he had no control over that, and of
course there were other obstacles that came together that didn't allow
Koch to work the team the way he wanted."
Talebi continued: "Koch with economic strategies was planning to make
Esteghlal the richest club in Iran, and when he came to Esteghlal, he had
plans to get over 50 sponsors for the team which would make the club
2,000,000,000 Toman richer, but now that he is gone, all these
possibilities are gone as well."
By denying that Koch received a two hundred million Toman salary from
Esteghlal, Talebi said: "Koch's salary was only a bit more than the
Iranians coaches."
In regards to Esteghlal's current and perhaps temporary coaches, Zarincheh
and Pourheydari, Talebi said: "These two are successful football
personal, but they will not be able to continue the path that Koch had in
mind for Esteghlal. I wish them success in the rest of the season."
At the end, Esteghlal's former coach invited Esteghlal fans to support the
team in the rest of the way and wished that the fans become a factor in
Esteghlal's success in the future.
