Mirror - Nestor Pitana of Argentina will take charge of Sunday's World Cup final.

France take on Croatia in the showpiece final this weekend following their semi-final victories over Belgium and England.

And after an impressive tournament, Pitana has been named as the man in the middle.

Meanwhile, Alireza Faghani of Iran will take charge of England's third-place play-off with Belgium on Saturday.

But Pitana follows a long list of prestigious names to be awarded the biggest game in world football.

The 43-year-old will be aided by assistants Hernan Maidana and Juan Belatti, with Bjorn Kuipers as the fourth official in Moscow.

Pitana blew the first whistle of the tournament too after taking charge of Russia's crushing victory over Saudi Arabia.

He has also already officiated this year's finalists having been the referee for Croatia's penalty shootout victory over Denmark and France's 2-0 win over Uruguay in the last eight.

Faghani has been in charge of three games this summer, including France's stunning victory over Argentina and Germany's shock defeat to Mexico.
