Tasnim – Persepolis football team started the new season of Iran Professional League (IPL) with a 1-0 win over Padideh on Thursday night.

In the match held in Imam Reza Stadium in Mashhad, northeast of Iran, Ali Alipour was on target from the penalty spot in the 8th minute.

Persepolis will have a difficult task to defend its title since the team is not permitted to sign new player until January due to transfer ban.

Elsewhere, Zob Ahan edged past newly-promoted Nassaji 1-0 in Ghaemshahr, Saipa defeated Sepidrood 3-0 and Foolad beat Pars Jonoubi 2-1.

On Friday, Esteghlal will host Paykan, Gostaresh Foolad play Esteghlal Khuzestan, Sepahan face Sanat Naft and Naft Masjed Soleyman meet Tractor Sazi.
