Tasnim – Ex-Iran national football team striker Ali Daei has been nominated for the best ever AFC Asian Cup forward.

The-afc.com has nominated nine candidates for the two spots up front.

Eight of those strikes came at the 1996 AFC Asian Cup, earning him the top scorer award.

Daei added three more in Lebanon 2000 and two more in China four years later to become the competition’s all-time top goalscorer.

Lee Dong-gook (Korea Republic), Naohiro Takahara (Japan), Younis Mahmoud (Iraq), Yasser Al Qahtani (Saudi Arabia), Ali Mabkhout (United Arab Emirates), Jassem Al Houwaidi (Kuwait), Tim Cahill (Australia) and Alexander Geynrikh (Uzbekistan) are the other candidates for this award.
