IRNA - Several English Premier League teams,
among them Liverpool, Chelsea and Newcastle United, have reportedly indicated their interest in signing SV Hamburg's Iranian international
forward Mehdi Mahdavikia, the bi-weekly kicker sports magazine said Monday.
Mahdavikia, whose current contract with Hamburg will run out in the summer of next year, has earlier signalled his willingness to
play in the German Bundesliga next season.
"I want to play internationally with Hamburg next year and finally win a title," he said prior to his departure for Iran where
he is scheduled to take part in friendly matches against Cameroon and Nigeria.
Meanwhile Mahdavikia's manager, Reza Fazeli, has begun contract extension negotiations with Hamburg sports manager, Dietmar
Beiersdorfer.
The soft-spoken 25-year-old player has had a superb season this year, helping his team to qualify for the upcoming European Cup.
