Theargus - ALIREZA JAHANBAKHSH has urged Albion to keep composed and play their normal game in the showdown with Crystal Palace.

The £17 million record signing is in line for his first taste of the derby at Selhurst Park on Saturday after missing Albion's win at the Amex in December through injury.

Jahanbakhsh is accustomed to rivalries, including his comeback for Iran against Iraq in the Asian Cup in January.

The World Cup winger told The Argus: "For the fans it is very important. They feel the pressure and stress, as players we have to control that stress and pressure as much as we can. We can just play our game, that is very important.

"That's happened for me internationally and with my previous clubs. Now it is one other game. The most important thing is the fans and we do everything for them.

"It's always been very important playing against the kind of enemies in derby games. It's an extra feeling for them (supporters). They can be happy for a couple of days. That makes it extra important, extra nice.

"On the other side, we have to control the pressure. I think there is no pressure, we have to play as we do every single game. We don't have to change something."

Jahanbakhsh is on course to face Palace after impressing in his first Premier League start for 17 weeks in the 1-0 home win against Huddersfield.

That has provided the former AZ Alkmaar wide man with a dual incentive for victory - to satisfy supporters and further ease any lingering relegation worries.

He said: "Now I know more about English fans, our fans especially. They are amazing.

"Above how important the game is for that reason is the points. It's a double meaning if we do something good there."

Palace are eight points clear of the relegation zone. Victory for Albion at Selhurst Park for the first time since 2005 would take them level with a game in hand.
