Stramaccioni Iran

Football Italia - Esteghlal Coach Andrea Stramaccioni is reportedly stuck in Iran with his Italian staff, as his ‘tourist’ visa has expired and he wasn't allowed to fly out.

According to news agency ANSA, the former Inter and Udinese tactician tried to fly out to Italy for a family reunion this morning and was told he couldn’t leave the country.

It seems Iranian police held him and his three Italian staff members at the airport, claiming their three-month tourist visas had expired.

This was a surprise to Stramaccioni and his men, who have been working for Esteghlal since mid-June.

He was going to fly back home during the Persian Gulf Pro League break for international duty.

Stramaccioni’s job has been considered at risk after just one point from the opening two games.
