PTV - Persepolis takes a step forward in recovery from crisis after a narrow 1-0 home win over Esteqlal-e-Ahvaz in Iran's Premier League.

Nabiallah Baqeriha scored the winner for Persepolis at Tehran's Azadi Stadium seven minutes from time.

The victory was Persepolis' first under Afshin Peyrovani, who took over after Afshin Qotbi shocked the defending champions with his surprise resignation.

Persepolis replaced arch-rival Esteqlal in the third position with 26 points. Esteqlal can reclaim the third place if it beats Saipa on Saturday.

Meanwhile, second-placed Peykan lost 2-0 to Pas to suffer its third defeat of the season.

League leader Zob Ahan remained at the top of the table with 31 points, thanks to Shahbaz and Abolhasani, who scored for Pas.
