Rahman Rezaei

GOAL - Iran and Persepolis defender Rahman Rezaei has given new Team Melli coach Afshin Ghotbi a firm nod of approval.

Speaking with reporters after his first practice with the team, Rezaei assured everyone that the group were in a very healthy state of mind and very focused on the task at hand.

Iran have three vital 2010 World Cup qualifiers in June.

“I participated in the morning and afternoon sessions, and saw how focused the drills were. I think despite the short time we have [before the Korea DPR match], a lot of good tactical and technical work will be covered,” said the defender.

“Ghotbi is familiar with both Koreas and knows how we should play them.

“Besides the team has a lot of good discipline instilled in it and everyone understands the urgency of our situation.

When asked about his chances of making the team, Rezaei replied, “Ghotbi has proven that he will pick the fittest and best players. I am working hard to be one of them.”

Rezaei will rejoin his club side, Persepolis, next week to prepare for their AFC Champions League clash versus al Shabab of Saudi Arabia.
