PLDC - The chairman of Esteghlal of Tehran club, Ali
Fathollahzadeh, spoke in a press interview after the Al Faisali match and their return from
Turkey. He is apparently upset that the Higher Youth Committee and the City
Committee in Tehran do not provide the necessary assistance for football clubs with a large number of
supporters (running into millions) such as Esteghlal. He also asked why the
Committees they did not help the club (who were Iran’s representatives in the 14th Asian Games in
Busan) in any way despite possessing a budget of 60 billion Tomans.
He went on to add, “Esteghlal is selling their present sports complex and head quarters to buy another place which is in keeping with the club
class and prestige. We now own a lot of land near Eram Park (outside Tehran). We must begin our construction of the land this year. We are now
hoping to reside and work within the new complex by the end of the new season break.”
