MEF - DUBAI, Nov. 6: International Iranian strikers Ali Karimi of Al-Ahly and Farhad Majidi of Al-Wasl are roaring for Dubai’s upcoming titanic derby, as both clubs have witnessed mixed fortunes in the opening three weeks of league action here in the United Arab Emirates.

The Reds Army (Al-Ahly) are topping the league table standings on goal-difference ahead of defending champions Al-Ain, both of them rattling 7 points each out of three matches, while Al-Wasl have slipped to the unfamiliar 10th place after being handed 2 defeats and claiming only one draw.

The game, to be held tomorrow, is a home fixture for Al-Wasl who are currently coached by care-taker local manager Khalifa Mubarak after the sacking of Dutchman Johan Boskamp, as a result of the latest stunning 5-2 defeat at the hands of newly-promoted side Dubai FC.

Farhad Majidi, who netted once in Al-Wasl’s heavy defeat, is announced fit for the home clash against Al-Ahly, while the visiting Reds side will be heavily relying on their Iranian international goal-machine Ali Karimi who steered his side to an emphatic 6-0 victory over newcomers Al-Dhafra in their latest league outing.

A victory for Al-Ahly will certainly boost their morale and maintain them at the top of the table standings, spurring more problems for Al-Wasl who are suffering from a terrible loss of form, while a win for Al-Wasl will be seen as the right step in order to re-establish their status once again as one of the leading players in this season’s league campaign.
