IRNA -The Croat Branko
Ivankovic unceremoniously left here Monday for his homeland. Manager of
Iran's national soccer team returned home while he was waiting for a
session with the officials of Football Federation to negotiate on
extension of his contract.
According to the reports, Ivankovic had urged the Iranian officials to announce him their decision but the
postponement of negotiations prompted the Croat coach to travel to Zagreb without
informing the federation's authorities.
Based on his contract, Ivankovic is the head coach of national soccer squad by January 26, 2003. Ivankovic had asked the Iranian officials to inform him of his
contract before Christmas holidays.
The Croat was to take a trip to Zagreb Tuesday or Wednesday and the Football Federation was to negotiate with him before his
departure.
