IRNA - Director general of the Physical
Education Organization's Security Department said all 27 who announced their
candidacy for the presidency of Iran's Football Federation (IFF) are
qualified.
Talking to IRNA on Saturday, Behzad Katiraei added following the
announcement of related officials, all the nominees were cleared and their
qualification was officially reported to the Physical Education
Organization.
Touching upon the main event in domestic football, Persepolis-Esteqlal
match, he said: "A letter was sent to the relevant officials of East
Azarbaijan province," adding that "If the provincial authorities find no
security problem and undertake the responsibilities of a host, there is no
obstacle in the way of holding the derby in Yadegar-e Imam Stadium of Tabriz
on Friday, January 10, 2003."
He underlined the Azarbaijani officials should voice their readiness for
holding the match in a written letter by Sunday otherwise it means they are
not prepared to play the role of the host
and another venue will be decided.
