MNA – The world football’s governing body, FIFA, announced that the Bundesliga-bound Fereydun Zandi, can join the Iranian squad, said a Football Federation official on condition of anonymity Monday.
He added FIFA said in a meeting that there is no obstacle in the way of Kaiserslautern player and he can play for Iran.
Zandi needed the world body’s agreement as he had already played for Germany’s youth side.

According to the official, the Iranian Football Federation had offered the necessary documents and official offer to FIFA long time ago.

Iran’s Croat manager Branko Ivankovic, who has recently traveled to Germany, said Zandi has voiced readiness for joining his compatriots.

The trainer has yet to officially call up Zandi to the national squad and fields him in 2006 World Cup qualifiers.
