AFP - Three people were trampled to death and at least 32 injured in a crush of spectators after a World Cup qualifier between Iran and Japan, the state news agency IRNA reported.

Of the injured, four were reported to be in a "critical" condition, IRNA quoted a hospital official as saying. All of the casualties were believed to be Iranian nationals.

The casualties occurred immediately after the match, which Iran won 2-1, when an estimated 100,000 spectators flooded out of the packed downtown Azadi stadium.
