MNA - Iran defeated Nepal 3-0 in the AFC U-16 Championship on Friday. An own goal from Mahat Bahadur put Iran in the lead in the 30th minute in pool B at the Dashrath Stadium in Kathmandu, Nepal. Mohammad Reza Hassanifar doubled the score in the 57th minute, and Amir Abbas Aeinechi scored the Iranians third goal with one minute remaining.

“I am not satisfied with our performance against Nepal. We should have beat them with more than three goals,” said Akbar Mohammadi in the post match news conference.

“However, the Iranian players are not under pressure now for two upcoming matches against Lebanon and Bahrain,” Iran’s U-16 coach added.

Iran had been held to a goalless draw by Tajikistan in its opener. Defending champion Iran will play against Lebanon on Sunday.

The AFC U-16 Championship is a football competition organized by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) held once every two years for Asian under-16 teams.

A total of 23 teams have been divided in four groups. The top four teams qualify for the FIFA U-17 World Cup.
