MNA - Persepolis football team could not lessen the gap with its rivals at the top of the Iran Professional League (IPL) when the Tehran based team tied against Saba Battery on Wednesday.
In the match played at the Yadegar-e-Emam Stadium, Persepolis was held to a 1-1 draw against its opponent.

Abbas Mohammad-Rezaei put the hosts in the lead in the 32nd minute. He scored from outside the box with a powerful shot. Shpejtim Arifi equalized the match with one minute remaining before halftime.

Persepolis moved up to third place with 33 points on goal difference. Sepahan sits first with 43 points and one game in hand, and the other Isfahani team Zob Ahan is second with 40 points. Saba Battery is 10th with 27 points.

“Both teams are satisfied with the result (draw). Persepolis could have scored more goals but our strikers did not take advantage of their chances. We will work on our weak points during the break,” Zlatko Kranjcar  said in a post match news conference.
