MNA - Whether Afshin Ghotbi will stay on his job or not is not clear after Iran suffered its second defeat in the Doha International Friendship Football Tournament on Wednesday.

Iran was defeated 2-1 by Mali at the Suhaim bin Hamad Stadium. Afshin Ghotbi’s team was also beaten by Qatar in the opening match on Monday.

Iran’s football officials vowed they will not change the coach, but it seems that Ghotbi position is in danger after recent poor results.

Karim Ansarifard gave Iran a lead in the 19th minute and Tenema N’Diaye and Bakaye Traoré scored in the 27th and 29th minutes for Mali.

The African representative lost to North Korea in the tourney’s first day.

The tournament with $600,000 prize money will be played in a single round and the team finishing with the highest number of points will be the winner of the tournament.

Iran is preparing itself for the 2011 Asian Cup qualifiers.

Iran is going to play North Korea on Saturday.
