MNA - Iran’s legendary goalkeeper Nasser Hejazi, who died in May this year, was remembered on Monday.

Hejazi died at age of 61 due to lung cancer. The Iranian football officials attended the ceremony held at the Rah Ahan Club in Tehran.

“Hejazi will remain alive in our hearts and minds forever. I learned many lessons from him. If it was not for him I would not be here today,” the world's all-time leading international goalscorer, Ali Daei, said.

Hejazi played for Iran football team 62 times from 1968 to 1980. He appeared as goalkeeper in the 1972 Olympics in Munich and in 1976 in Montreal. Hejazi also was a member of Iran's World Cup team in 1978 in Argentina.
