TEHRAN – Persepolis coach Mustafa Denizli said that he has not won a title with the team and returned to the club to claim a championship.

In the pre-match news conference held at the Persepolis Club office in Tehran on Tuesday prior to Malavan encounter, Denizli said, “I’ve come to Persepolis to change the situation.”

He added, “I could not win a trophy at the last time I was here but the fans still like me and it shows they are satisfied with the way we played.”

“I feel I owe them a title and I am here to do that. However, we are ninth in the standings table and would rather finish the league as one of top teams to book a berth in the next year’s AFC Champions League. But we are going to win the championship in the next season,” the 62-year-old Turk stated.

Persepolis has lost to its arch rival Esteghlal in the last four derbies. Denizli said, “I am sure you will see a different performance in the fifth match. That’s why I am here.”
