Persepolis Shahin

TEHRANTIMES - Struggling Persepolis football team pulled the rabbits out its hat, humiliating Shahin 4-1 here on Wednesday.

Ali Karimi put Persepolis ahead from the penalty spot just three minutes into the match.

Gholamreza Rezaei extended Persepolis’ lead in the 12th minute and Mohammad Nouri scored the third goal for the host from a free kick outside the penalty area in the 19th minute.

Mansur Tanhaei pulled a goal back for the visiting team in the 35th minute.

Persepolis defender Alireza Nurmohammadi was sent off after receiving his second yellow card just before the break.

10-man Persepolis scored again after three minutes into the second half. Mehrdad Oladi put the ball into back of the net.

It was Persepolis’ first win under guidance of Mustafa Denizli who replaced Hamid Estili last month.

Elsewhere, Sepahan lost to Saba 2-1 in a home game, Foolad crashed Mes of Sarcheshmeh 4-0, and Saipa lost to Shahrdari 2-1 in its home game.

Esteghlal remains at the top of the Iran’s Professional League (IPL) standings table with 40 points, followed by Naft and Traktorsazi with 36 and 33 points.
