TEHRANTIMES - Persepolis football team has suffered its third defeat in the Iran Professional League (IPL), while its arch-rival Esteghlal failed to get a win in a home game.


On Sunday, Persepolis lost to 10-man Damash 1-0 in Rasht’s Azodi Stadium.

Damash’s Rasool Borooshi was sent of just one minute into the second half after receiving his second yellow card.

Persepolis failed to take advantage of this opportunity afterwards. Hossein Ebrahimi scored for Damash in the 68th minute.

The Reds have already lost to Sepasi and Saba in IPL.

Also on Sunday, another IPL giant Esteghlal was held to a 1-1 draw against Malavan in a home game. Mohammad Nozhati gave the visiting team a lead in the 23rd minute the Tehran’s Azadi Stadium. Esteghlal striker Arash Borhani cancelled out the goal in the 73rd minute.

Malavan moved top of IPL standings table with this draw.

Persepolis and Esteghlal are scheduled to play on Friday in the 75th derby of Tehran.
