PLDC - Tehran, Mehdi Mahdavikia has been very busy lately with his duties as an Ambassador of AFC's Grassroots department. He was recently in south eastern Asia to set up programs to help develop football in this part of Asia which has traditionally been one of the weakest areas of the continent.

The former Hamburger SV star was at the headquarters of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in a meeting with the department's executive, Mohammad Abbasi. After Ali Parvin was dismissed from his duties as the chairman of Persepolis and as a member of the board of directors along with Mahmoud Khordbin, Mahdavikia was asked to join the board.

He has yet to announce his decision regarding this request, but history shows that he is more interested in the technical aspect of football rather than management.

However, with Persepolis being in such a critical point in their history, Mahdavikia might consider joining the forces of his beloved club.
