PFDC - EUROPE, Vahid Hashemian and Andranik Teymourian started for their clubs as Vfl Bochum and Barnsley FC were able to clinch home victories.

Barnsley in good shape

Barnsely, unbeaten in the English Championship since the signing of the Iranian midfielder on February 2, rallied to their second win in three games after five consecutive defeats before that, this time beating Charlton Atheltic 2-1 on Saturday.

Teymourian started for the third consecutive time and showed a satisfying performance as defensive midfielder over the full 90 minutes. The Iranian was very lively, but again proved he is all but a goalgetter, as he once more failed to get any of his shooting chances on target.

Two very different halves for Hashemian

In Germany Vahid Hashemian got a place in the starting lineup due to Diego Klimowicz' one-game-suspension on Saturday afternoon. The Iranian striker, however, showed a very poor performance against Energie Cottbus in first half, which ended 1-1. The Iranian had barely any ball contacts and mostly caused turnovers the few occassions he got hold of the ball.

But Hashemian showed himself very much improved in second half, being more involved in Bochum's game and also showing good footwork and passing.

The Iranian could have won a penalty kick soon after the restart when he dribbled past two defenders on the left wing before a third blocked Hashemian inside the penalty area without playing the ball, but the referee's whistle remained silent.

Shortly later Cottbus took the lead after a counter attack (50'), but just four minutes afterwards Hashemian took another solo run, this time on the half-right, and could only be stopped by a foul. Christian Fuchs directly scored from the freekick to make it 2-2.

Hashemian was subbed out 72 minutes into the game, which was decided in Bochum's favour 11 minutes from time, when a controversial penalty call allowed Pfertzel to score the winner from the spot.

Frankfurt-teams lose without Iranians

Both Mehdi Mahdavikia and Amir Shapourzadeh had started for Eintracht Frankfurt and FSV Frankfurt respectively last week and both teams had been able to win their games. This week, however, both had to take place on the bench again and also didn't come into play at all.

Eintracht suffered a 1-2 home defeat to Schalke 04 while FSV lost 0-2 in Oberhausen.

The Standings

Frankfurt are 13th in German Bundesliga, which consists of 18 teams, one position and two points ahead of Vfl Bochum, who are only one point ahead of a relegation-playoff spot and four points ahead of a direct relegation spot.

Barnsley stand in 18th position of the 24 teams strong Championship, five points ahead of the bottom three, who will be relegated.

FSV Frankfurt are 14th in second Bundesliga, only goal difference seperating them from the relegation zone.
