Damascus, July 22, IRNA -- Oman extracted three points Sunday as it fought back to beat the Iranian side in a preliminary match of Asian Youth Soccer Championships.
Falling behind one-nil in the first half, the Omani side netted twice to win the match 2-1, putting Iran into trouble for booking a berth in Asian finals.
Hojjatollah Zad-Mahmoud put Iran ahead in the 9th minute that was responded by Oman with a goal-bound header in the 59th minute and a penalty shootout six minutes from the normal time. 
Iran's Captain Hossein Ka'bi who was fielded in the second half received his marching orders for two bookable offenses.
The two "Group A' teams' match started at 05:30 pm (local hours) in the 30,000-seater stadium of Aleppo, 350 km off northern Damascus.
In its third (last) clash, Iran meets the Syrian squad. Syria routed Oman 5-1 in its first match.
