Riyadh, July 14 -- Veteran Croatian Coach Tomislav Ivic was installed as manager of Al-Ittihad, a Saudi Arabian top club.
With coaching experiences in Marseille, Ajax and Benfica, Ivic has already managed the United Arab Emirates' national team in 1996.
"He finally gave his agreement on Friday and he'll take the helm next season," confirmed Al-Ittihad Vice-President Jamal Abou Amara Saturday.
Ivic stood down as Marseille coach eight months ago after suffering heart problems.
He steps in to replace Oscar, capped 60 times for Brazil, who guided the Jeddah-based outfit to three trophies in 2000, was then replaced by Argentinian Osvaldo Ardiles, only to be called back last November.
Al-Ittihad lost out on the domestic championship last season, losing 2-1 to Al-Hilal in the final.
