PTV – The FIFA President has lauded Asian women's leading position in football and promised to increase the budget for women's football.

Noting the long male domination of the game, Sepp Blatter, president of the International Federation of Football Association (FIFA), admired Asian women for taking the lead in the effort to promote the game for women.

"Our sport has been, and still is, a sport for men and boys. I'd say it's a macho sport. But in the past 15 years, women's sport has remarkably developed in all continents. Even in Iran and Saudi Arabia, women's football is in,” the FIFA president said.

The 71-year-old Swiss announced that the the FIFA executive committee had decided to increase the budget allocated to women's football.

FIFA allocates 250,000 dollars to each national association and 2.5 million dollars to continental confederations every year.

The committee has decided to increase the ratio of money spent by national associations for promoting women's football out of subsidies from 10 percent to 15 percent, Blatter said.
