MNA - Eintracht Frankfurt’s Iranian midfielder Mehdi Mahdavikia denied speculation that he will come back to Persepolis next season.
Mahdavikia said, “Persepolis assistant coach Alireza Marzban came to me and wanted me to join Persepolis at the end of the current season. Persepolis is my favorite club but my current contract runs to 2010. Surely, I will think about it after the end of my time here.”

He said is ready to join the national team, adding, “I am in shape at the moment and looking forward to being a member of the team for the 2010 World Cup Qualifiers. We have to beat the (United Arab) Emirates at Tehran’s Azadi Stadium to boost our hopes in the competition.”

Qualifying for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa is the most important issue and coach Ali Daei is the right man for the job and can put the team in the lead in the competition, despite the national team’s lack of experience, Mahdavikia noted.

Eintracht Frankfurt lost 3-1 to Bundesliga-leading Bayern Munich on Wednesday at Commerzbank-Arena, Frankfurt, but Mahdavikia stayed on the bench.
