Tasnim - Iran was defeated against England 4-1 in the U-19 Football Tournament 2016 in South Korea on Saturday.
The Iranian team started the campaign with a 3-1 loss to the host and edged past Nigeria 1-0 in its second match.
Reza Jafari scored Iran’s sole goal in the match against England played at the Suwon Stadium.
Iran finished in third place in the tournament. South Korea needs just a draw against Nigeria to win the tournament.
The tournament brought four teams namely, South Korea, Iran, Nigeria and England together.
The four-a-side competition is part of the teams’ preparation for the FIFA U-20 World Cup Korea Republic 2017.
Iran has already booked a place in the competition along with Japan, Saudi Arabia and Vietnam after advancing to the AFC U-19 Championship semi-final in Bahrain.
