ThanhNienNews - Olympic Vietnam football team had a stunning victory over heavyweight Iran at the qualifying round of the Asian Games 2014 in South Korea on Monday.


Vietnam had good defense in the first half with sharp attacks against Iran, considered Group H’s strongest team.

Vu Huy Toan scored the first goal for Vietnam at 24th minute after receiving a pass from Mac Hong Quan on the right side.

Just four minutes later, Mac Hong Quan scored the second goal for Vietnam, after passing two Iran defenders and defeating goalkeeper Vakia..

Mosalman shortened the goal difference to 1-2 for Iran at 66th minute with a penalty kick, after Vietnam goalkeeper Buu Ngoc had a fault with Sharifi.

However, Vietnam had the third goal only three minutes later by Phi Son.

At 82th minute, Vietnam got a free kick and captain Hoang Thinh scored the fourth goal for Vietnam.

Iran will play against Kyrgystan on September 18 in group H, which will select two winning teams to the next round. Vietnam will play Kyrgyzstan on September 22.

The 17th Asian Games Incheon 2014, hosted by South Korea, will officially kick off on September 19 and will last until October 4.
