TEHRANTIMES - Sepahan suffered a 2-1 disappointing defeat against relegation-threatened Damash in the Iranian Professional League (IPL) on Friday.

Mostafa Hajati gave Damash a lead in the 21st minute. Amin Motavesselzadeh extended Damash’s lead with five minutes remaining of the first half.

Damash was reduced to 10 men in the 52nd minute. Referee Touraj Haghverdi showed Mohammad Mokhtari the second yellow card.

Damash, who needed the win to get back on track, put the host under pressure and Mohammad-Reza Khalatbari finally scored a consolation goal in the dying moments of the match.

Esteghlal is one point clear at the top of the IPL table with one game in hand. The Blues could win the title if the team beat Foolad in Ahvaz.
