Team Melli

PLDC - Johannesburg, The Iranian national team has lost a friendly against Mamelodi Sundowns.

The lone goal of the match was scored in the 30th minute. Karim Ansarifard missed a penalty in the first half, and perhaps if he would have converted, the result could have been very different.

100 Iranian fans were present in the stadium to support Team Melli. The Iranians wore their red kit, while The Sundowns sported a blue kit.

Mamelodi Sundowns have a 44 year history in South African football, and are nicknamed "The Brazilians", as well as "Downs", and "Bafana Bastyle".

Team Melli played three matches in its South Africa camp, and finished with a record of one victory, one draw, and one loss (vs Sundowns). Iran's squad and personnel will leave for Tehran on Friday.

Before their departure, Team Melli will play one last friendly on Thursday, against the Mpumalanga Black Aces.
