PTV - Iran moves up two places to 39th in the FIFA ranking, but stands third in Asia after Australia jumped 10 spots to the 38th position.

Japan tops Asian teams with 747 points though it dropped one place to 35th. Australia and Iran scored 663 and 656 points respectively to occupy the second and third spots in Asia.

Argentina stands at the top of the ranking table to keep its slim lead over Brazil and World Cup champion Italy. Spain, Germany, the Czech Republic, France, Portugal, the Netherlands and Greece are the remaining top 10 teams.

The world's top 10 list remained almost unchanged since the last ranking, with Greece standing one place higher than England as the only exception.

The recent African Nations Cup saw semi-finalist Ghana jump 29 places to 14th position, shared with Scotland, while finalist Cameroon moved up eight spots to rank 17th.

Tournament winners Egypt gained six places to move into the 29th position.
