PFDC - Transfer news in the Saudi Arabian football scene. Ending the season empty-handed both on the local and continental scenes, Al-Ittihad of Jeddah are being reported on a spending-spree in transfer market, according to London-based daily Al-Hayat.

Looking to find the ultimate partner of the league's top scorer Ricardo Sergio of Brazil, the Jeddah giants are inerested in signing 25-year old Iran international forward Farhad Majidi who is playing his club football at Al-Wasl of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.

Majidi, who represented his country in the 1998 World Cup finals in France, proved an instant hit with Al-Wasl this season, scoring 11 goals in 17 league appearances, one of the most lethal forwards in the country.

"The player's contract with Al-Wasl ends in late June," said an unidentified impresario operating from Dubai. "He is receiving genuine offers from both Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates to lure his services, and his price tag is nearing the $750,000 figure."

Mansour Al-Balawi, one of Al-Ittihad's predominant figures at the administrational level, commented today on the reports linking his club with the international Iranian striker: "We are in close touch with an international striker playing now in the Gulf, after passing short spells with clubs in Europe."

Majidi had previous spells in the late 90s with Anderlecht of Belgium and Austrian club Rapid Vienna.
