Dubai, June 30, IRNA -- Al-Ahly Club of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) appreciated national striker of Iran, Ali Karimi, and his sponsor Abolfazl Jalali in a ceremony Saturday.
Hundreds of political and cultural figures and reporters attended the ceremony during which Iranian phenom was awarded three cash prizes and a gold watch.
During the ceremony that started with the message of UAE Vice-President Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid al-Maktoum who is also the chairman of Al-Ahly Club, Karimi and his teammates received 50 thousand dirhams each for championship in the UAE's Sheikh Zayed League Cup.
Karimi also received 40 thousand dirhams for sportsmanship and a 30-thousand-dirham purse for winning the topscorer title. Jalali was also awarded a gold watch for his efforts.
Karimi starred in the final, helping Al-Ahly defeat Al-Jazeera 3-1.
The Iranian player netted 13 times to be the topscorer of Sheikh Zayed Cup.
Supporters of Al-Ahly celebrated the victory, wearing red shirts in Dubai streets for a week.
Al-Ahly players and officials met ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid al-Maktoum, who appreciated Karimi for his superb performance.
