GOAL - Despite reports to the contrary, Iranian defender Rahman Rezaei has not yet signed with UAE club Al Dhafra and is hoping to extend his Italian stay.

The central defender recently left Serie A outfit Livorno after a number of years in Italy and although the Iranian media had reproted that he had joined the Gulf club, Rezaei was adamant that he is keen to stay in Italy.

"I returned to Italy on Sunday for some personal issues as well as negotiating with several teams. In the recent years, I have always selected my team in the last few days of the transfer season. I assure you that I will not remain teamless", Rezaei told Iranian reporters.

"I don't like to comment before choosing my new club, it's better wait for a few more days,” said the player labelled the ‘Minister of Defence’ by Italian fans.

"I am negotiating with a number of clubs at the moment and my situation will become clear within next days. I have to evaluate all offers in order to make a good choice", he concluded.
