PTV - Moqavemat has thrashed Iran's Premier League leader Esteqlal 4-1 to inflict the sixth defeat of the season on Amir Qalenoi's squad.

Moqavemat lined up against a disorganized Esteqlal surrounded by controversy over allegations of match fixing, raised after Ali Alizadeh handled the ball in the injury time to concede a penalty against arch-rival Persepolis in the Blues' previous game.

Mostafa Sabri scored Moqavemat's first goal in the 30th minute and Mohammad Iran-Pourian doubled the lead for the hosts five minutes later.

Amin Motevasselzadeh scored the third some 20 minutes into the second half to put an end to Esteqlal's dim hope of equalizing the game.

Alireza Abbasfard narrowed the lead four minutes later, but Ali Mombeini's injury-time strike inflicted Esteqlal's sixth defeat of the season.

Wednesday's victory sent Moqavemat to the eighth place with 39 points while Esteqlal retained its top spot with 53 points despite the loss.

In other matches, Zob Ahan beat Rah Ahan 1-0 to return to the second place with 50 points, three points clear of Persepolis.
