PTV - Reigning African champion, the Pharaohs of Egypt, are set to square off against Asian powerhouse, Iran, in an international friendly match.

The game is set to take place on the 20th of August in the United Arab Emirates. It is scheduled just a few weeks before the Pharaohs take on the Simba Boys of DR Congo in a crucial 2010 World Cup group 12 qualifying game.

Both Egypt and DR Congo are atop the group with nine points, but they are only three points ahead of a Malawi side who are set to face Djibouti in their next game.
Iran would also use the game to warm up for their fourth round of qualifying game for the 2010 World Cup, as they have a potentially tough grouping alongside South Korea, Saudi Arabia, North Korea, and the United Arab Emirates.

The two sides have only met once before in a full FIFA international, namely in an LG Cup tie in Tehran in the year 2000.

Goals from Ali Daei and Hossam Hassan saw the match end 1-1 after extra time, after which Egypt prevailed 8-7 on penalties.
